Matze, In general you would just create 1D elements using any one of the methods in the tutorial HyperWorks Desktop Applications > HyperMesh > HyperMesh Tutorials > Meshing > 1-D Elements: HM-3000: Creating 1-D Elements Only difference will be, that you need to use cbush or celas as per the requirements. Does a celas1 Spring also gather compressive force?

how to use Radioss Block Format?

Hello!Everyone! I am a new student about using Radioss Block Format to make buckling simulation. I am using Hypermesh v12.0 Radiossblock (block110 Format) right now. But I still do not know how to make nonlinear buckling simulation. How to get the ENG_IMPL_NONLIN and ENG_IMPL_BUCKL? Where are the buttons for ENG_IMPL_ (in the picture I just uploaded)? After I pressed the button of control card, what should I do next? Thank you so much! Sun Image

Hi Sun, you can find more information about the implicit non linear cards from the help documents. You can check the tutorial RD-3530: Buckling of a Tube using Half Tube Mesh on parameters to input for buckling analysis.

Hi Prakashpagadala Thank you so much for your reply. It really helps me. But could you tell me how to set /IMPL/PRINT?NONLIN/-1 into the Engine file? Where can I find the buttons in the picture which I have uploaded? Please tell me some details. Thanks a lot.

you should see ENG_IMPL_PRINT_NONLIN use that card to define printout frequency for non linear implicit. in the Nprint field you can enter the number after clicking.

Matze, You can apply a compressive load on a celas spring element

Hi Rahul If i use the same setting as you OSSmooth works. I tested a few setting with the cognition that a high iso-value and the remesh function lead to a segmentation error. But for the moment i can live with that. The strange thing is that the Non-Design part are partially deleted during the process. Design part is gray and the Non-Design part is yellow. Image Also at the position where the design and the non-design part where glued together the non-design part is modified strangely. Design part is gray and the non-design part is orange. Image I also tried to generate a geometry to export it as STL or STEP. This works but the result is a bit strange. Attached to the non-design volume are a lot of small peaks. Image These peaks seem to come from design elements. But these elements have a density value less then 0.1 Image Do you have any idea what i could do better?

Visualization - transparency of solid elements

I'm trying to check penetration between two solid parts. I have two questions, the answers to which will help me visually identify penetration more easily: 1) How do you change the transparency of a part with solid elements? The geometry transparency option on the visualization toolbar only changes the transparency for surfaces, not solid elements. 2) Is it possible to view some parts as shaded and others as wireframe at the same time? Thanks.

Hello RahulPonginan Thank you for your reply. I am using Radioss Block Format 11.0 and 12.0 version And I just went to Analysis > control cards. But I can not get the things what you said. What I get I have uploaded in the picture below. Could you tell me more details about how to find ENG_IMPL_BUCKL or ENG_IMPL_NONLIN? Which one is the engine cards? Thank you so much. Image

Re: How to upload *.hm files to the Support Forum

By default html, gif, jpg, and png files can be imported only. You may apply the following trick: 1. Copy/duplicate your original HyperMesh binary file in your working directory, then change the file extension to for instance *.jpg 2. While posting a new support request the renamed HyperMesh file (with the extension *.jpg) can be referenced/selected as an "image". It may be quite useful to add an annotation to the "image" - something like *hm file attached 3. In the Post the uploaded "image" will not be displayed correctly i.e. a red cross symbol will be displayed. However, the (HyperMesh file) is still associated to the "red cross symbol". Now, with a right mouse button click the attached file can be downloaded (don't forget to rename the *.jpg into *hm again) Hope this helps

thank you,, but still can't able to understand whether the result changes after extracting the mid surface and this mid surface has extra geometry as shown in above figure..Or is it fine if I uses the same geometry of above and find the result.

How to deal with unsupported card?

Hello, everyone. I am a new student using Hyperworks 11.0 Block Format to make nonlinear buckling simulation. I want to use the Engine keywords IMPL/BUCKL/. But this keyword is shown as one of the unsupported cards in Radioss from the Altair guidance. Does it mean Hyperworks can not use keywords? How to set nonlinear buckling keyword using Hyperworks 11.0 Block Format? How to manually write it into Engine file? Please help me. Thank you so much. Sun

what does the averaging method refers to. when i am selecting a option none i am getting stresses at middle when simple at end..and when difference other values what does this mean and what does the averaging method mean? Image

Hi Sun, as told in the earlier post, IMPLICIT cards are directly available from V 12.0. to access implicit cards, go to analysis page--> Control Cards. here you will find all engine parameter cards. Engine parameters starts with the letters ENG_ followed by card name, card names are organised alphabetically and you should find them easily. click next/previous to find the required cards. for instance, ENG_IMPL_BUCKL1(2) are available in 7th page of control cards. Hi, Have you included any ANIM/DT card in your model? in the <filename>.out file you should see the time step value and solid element IDs, based on that time step value can you increase the number in the ANIM/DT and check if you get the same? if you still get the error, please share the files with us. use the dropbox ID below to share the files.

Syed, For a detailed explanation about averaging you can go through - 20.4 Stress Calculation And Output In Optistruct in the HyperWorks Student guide (page 419). Read - HyperWorks Desktop Applications > HyperView > Results > Nodal Averaging of Elemental Results in HyperWorks Help. Also go through the tutorial - HyperWorks Desktop Applications > HyperView > HyperView Tutorials > Result Data Analysis > HV-3060: Transforming and Averaging Stresses
