Hi, Please select the independent node to constraint (node ID: 9257 instead of 9256 in your model)

3D Mesh

probelm with automesh on *.stl file

Hello, I have a poblem when meshing a *.stl file with the automesh function at HyperMesh 12.0. As seen in the pictures below the automesh adds some trias in a wave shape to certain edges, which are not in the *.stl file. It seems like there is a problem meshing some 90° angles. Here you can find the .hm file with the fnished automesh: https://gigamove.rz.rwth-aachen.de/d/id/RmUWQLgaAv7exR It would be nice when someone has some idea/solution how to solve the problem. Since I am new to Hypermesh a detailed description would be very helpful. Tim ImageImageImage

Hi Tim, The problem is probably because STL is already a tria mesh, usually of very low quality elements to capture the features of a geometry. I would need your STL file to help you with the settings you need for automesh, For a quick solution however, you can create surface geometry from the stl using geom > surfaces > from FE, and then automesh the surfaces.

Hi Rahul, Thanks a lot for your replay. I apologise for my empty post, but I made a mistake when writing. I wanted to cancel it but I could not. Actually I have a question about 3D mesh. I have two solids, one is inside the other (like a mould and the object inside) and I have defined contacts between them. The problem is that if the internal object is a cube I have no penetration, but with a cylinder I have it. Hence I am trying to understand what is the best way to mesh the curved surfaces when using contacts. Thanks again. Regards, S.

Hi Rahul-Ponginan I am really thankful for you kind reply. But I still do not know where is the engine cards. What should the Radioss Block Format Version be? Could you tell me more details? :P When I press the button of control card, it will occur something like this.. Thank you so much. Sun Image

Hi Sun, In HyperWorks 11.0 you have to enter the implicit cards manually in unsupported cards. From HyperWorks 12.0 they are readily available in control cards. I would suggest you to upgrade to HyperWorks 12.0 if you are using a student version which is free.

Serena, Can you post an image of your model? do you have penetration between the cylinder and mould while meshing or after analysis while postprocessing? what analysis are you performing?

Hi, I would like to create a spring in Optistruct, to add an displacement dependant force, but I cant find any tutorial. To make it short I want to create my Radioss model in Optistruct. (http://www.altairuniversity.com/support-forum/analyses-solvers-group10/radioss-forum11/more-error-messages-thread736/ you might remember :D)
