Re: To find the best possible structure
Hi,
Do you want to study the influence of changes made for a set of design variables on a structure?
in such a case you can perform a DOE study using HyperStudy. Please refer to How to Use HyperStudy > Study Contents > Approaches: in HyperWorks help for more information on DOE study.
There are few tutorials available on this approach available. You can refer to the help documents for more information and tutorials.

Re: option for applying contout
Hi
You need to go to View > panels from within HyperView - i.e. check the panels option in view,
Also delete the settings files (especially hwsettings.xml) in your working directory , see http://www.altairuniversity.com/support-forum/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=251

Re: Matching mesh
Thank you very much for your help!
I also find another way to do it using connectors:
Step1
Connectors >Create> Seams
select the line between the two tubes
Connect what> comps select the whole model and switch elem to geom
Type= weld
Create>Return
Step 2
Mesh the whole model (/!\ you have to mesh the surface from the inside of the tube)
Step 3
Reorganize the element to desired collectors ...

Driver Version: 9.17.10.2843
Current Mode: 1920 x 1080 (32 bit) (59Hz)
I cannot reinstall hyperworks since it have been copied to my windows 8 laptop from a desktop version for compatibility reason. I've ran other optimizations from tutorials on this computer and everything went fine. I am surprised that the optimization runs fine on your side since it does not even run on my school's computers. I am working on this optimization for a project and I am getting out of time... The check run completes but the optimizatio wont... Does the optimization solve by completing multiple iterations on your side?
Thank for your help.

Hypermold for Moldflow: how to mesh fillet with specify # of element along the curve
I tried to create surface mesh for one of my plastic. It has many fillets, and they are important for Moldflow analysis.
I want to using QI optimize option (inside Automesh) to mesh a group of fillets, but mesh not capture the curvature.
Is that a function in Hypermesh can tell the mesher to mesh fillet surface with specify # of elements along the curvature? (ie: I want 3 element along the curve of a fillet with radius of 0.5mm, at the same time, I want my global element size target to be 1mm.)
Thanks.

Re: User Defined Optimizer - XOPT
What file formats should my optimizer create? I'm using MATLAB, so I can create, for example, 'extopt_run.m' or 'extopt_run.txt'.

Structural Analysi- Removing redudent portions
Sir,
I have a structure in which I think some of the elements are redundant. I want them to be removed keeping my structural rigidity same or at least satisfying my prescribed limit.
How optistruct can help me?

Re: Structural Analysi- Removing redudent portions
Hi,
Topology optimization using OptiStruct will help you optimize the material layout.
Please refer to the HyperWorks help documents and tutorials for more readings on topology optimizaiton :)

Re: Free Size optimisation wont run
Hi Eric,
Please quickly write a mail to altairuniversity@altair.com requesting for a windows 8 compatible HyperWorks beta, We will immediately send you a windows 8 beta
This version is designed to work on windows 8.
I suspect there may have been a problem during copying from one system to another.
Which operating system does your school computer use?

Alex,
I would say text files

Re: Hypermold for Moldflow: how to mesh fillet with specify # of element along the curve
Ryanzhao,
you can use the interactive mode in automesh to adjust the necessary element size for a particular fillet/surface
See HyperWorks Desktop Applications > HyperMesh > HyperMesh Tutorials > Meshing > 2-D Elements:
HM-3100: AutoMeshing
Step 6 - specify a new element density along surface edges.
curved surfaces are best meshed using the deviation algorithms,
see - HyperWorks Desktop Applications > HyperMesh > HyperMesh Tutorials > Meshing > 2-D Elements:
HM-3120: 2-D Mesh in Curved Surfaces

For the Solid/Solid Type17 Contact are shell16 elements needed. How can I create them?

Re: Hypermold for Moldflow: how to mesh fillet with specify # of element along the curve
Thanks for the quick response Rahul.
I have looked into these two tutorial. Expecially the second one. Really helpful.
One more question on this, if I select all surfaces for automesh at once using QI optimize option. Is that a way to tell mesher to pay special attention to curve surface in my selection?
