SPCD

hello together, I am building a modell for a direct frequency response analysis. I was wondering how to handle the SPCD load collector: I have 2 SPCD constraints at different nodes. Both SPCD are stored in the same load collector. The applied force is built by the RLOAD2 card e.g. amplitude=10 Now I am asking myself, how is the load distributed? Is the load in each SPCD amplitude=5 ? or Is the load in each SPCD amplitude=10 ?

Hi, the total amplitude which is specified is 10 but for each node it is 5. So the node will displace to 5 units not 10.

Student_1739 Looks like you are modelling with multiple excitations, i.e. your model is excited at two different places and hence two different spcd are created by you. The SPCD is the card that actually defines the amplitude also called excite ID in the rload card. To have two excitations you must create two rload cards, the exciteID of both these rloads will be the two separate spcd you already have, refer both these cards in a DLOAD card and then refer this in the DLOAD filed in the loadstep definition.

actually I only have one excitation which I want to be transfered into the whole specimen through those two SPCD contraint nodes

Student_1739, You mean the same excitation applied at two different points in the model, I still suggest you use two different rload cards, referring the two spcd, these in turn will be referred to in a dload load collector, which will then need to be entered in the dload field of the loadstep.

basicly I want to simulate the following situation. I have one generator which is connected to one specimen at two points. What I did so far: I created one load collector for those 2 dynamic constraints, both referring to the same RLOAD card. Image

Displaying Boundary conditions i.e. Loads and Constraints in Hyperview

Hello everyone, Is there any way in hyperview to display the constraints and loads in Hyperview along with the contour plots. It becomes much easier for visualization. I know it is there in Hypermesh Post, but cant find the same in Hyperview..

Hi ameyaforever Please create two windows in HyperMesh Desktop, One for HyperMesh and one for HyperView side by side. You can then conveniently visualize the loads and constraints in the HyperMesh window and the results in the HyperView window. Image

Request the force from the rigid element

Hello, I am using bolt connections between two parts, and I would like to know the amount of the developing force. Could you help me please how to do it? Thanks: Sanyo

Hi Sanyo, you can use ELFORCE card to output element forces but it will not output rigid element data. instead of using a rigid element you can use a CBAR element while modeling a bolt and request ELFORCE for CBAR. to request ELFORCE: go to Analysis page-->control cards-->Global_output_request-->ELFORCE

Sanyo, Alternatively you can request for GPFORCE which will output the reaction forces at grids. let us know if this helped you

Sanyo, also you can try with MPCFORCE to output results for rigid elements.

When using equivalence the problem is, that I can fix the most free edges, but for some I need a high cleanup-tolerance and then the generated elements don't represent the real geometry. What do you mean with "solid option" ? The whole volume represents the fluid, so there are no solids or do I missunterstand you?

Instructive example concerning function RainFlow() needed

Hi I would like to use the function RainFlow() in HyperMath 12.0. Help (F1) describes the syntax as: result = RainFlow(yvect, numbins, minrange, maxrange, output, hysteresis) The HyperMath editor in the files-window, however, shows the syntax as Rainflow (vector, vector, scalar) I always get an error 30: error in function 'RainFlow'. when trying to use this function in a HyperMath script. Has anyone a small instructive example available (e.g. a rainflow counting applied to a vector containing values of a sine function)? Thanks in advance for any support. Best regards Matthias Leiner

How to change the display format of numbers in MV?

Hi, In MV, I am frequently using SI units in the context of mechatronic problems. The display format in MV is a fixed format with 4 digits after the decimal point. All numbers less than 5e-5 are shown as 0.0000. This can happen quite often when using SI units (--> using meter instead of the default millimeter). My question: How can I change the display format of numbers (e.g. to scientific format)? Best regards, Matthias Leiner

Hi Matthias, As per the help documentation, HyperWorks Desktop Applications > MotionView > MotionView Overview > Data Entry: Entering Property Data We see that Three types of data can be entered in panel text boxes: • Constant values • Mathematical expressions • Template expressions Most data is entered as constant values. You can enter a constant value in any standard-floating point or integer format, including scientific notation. MotionView reformats the number when you leave the text box. Can you name exactly the panels where this is a problem? where do you need the scientific notation ? and also which version are you using (with update information) I see for instance that in add body panel there is scientific notation in the inertia properties fields, similarly in the add points coordinate fields etc. Image

Hi Matthias, I see that Rainflow - Reduces the number of vector points from the test data without losing the damage, magnitude, and/or effect of the test data. You can use the rainflow function in the exact same way in HyperGraph as well, attached is a video on its application in HyperGraph, rename the image from jpg to wmv. You can also obtain debug information and figure out where you need to modify your input. see HyperWorks Desktop Reference Guides Overview > Templex and Math Reference Guide > Math Reference > Functions and Operators > List of External Functions > rainflow Perhaps you can provide us the input information, your initial curve (vector) data etc and we may be able to help better. Hello, please let me translate first, as the support forum language is usually in English (as this is an international support site). If I understand correctly, you want to know: 1) How to define an enforced displacement on your bolt (currently done with MOTNG(D))? 2) How to assign a nonlinear displacement curve to the enforced displacement? 3) How to correctly set up a non-linear quasi-static simulation with OptiStruct I checked your model, and can give the following recommendation: 1) The correct load type would be SPCD in order to define an enforced displacement. MOTNG(D) is for Multibody Dynamic Analysis and can not be used in static load cases. Please consider that in non-linear analysis, additional degrees of freedom apart from your z-motion need to be constrained to zero, so that the bolt can not move in an undesired direction (e.g. rotation around the bolt axis or moving in x-y plane)! 2) I think the non-linear load curve can be only given in a NLGEOM analysis but not in a NLSTAT analysis type. I would recommend NLGEOM also as your displacements are very large and NLSTAT is only valid for small displacements. The NLGEOM bending of a plate is described in OS Tutorial -1500. To assign a curve to a displacement, you need a TABLED1 keyword. To create this, use a load collector in HyperMesh and assign the correct Card Image. You can then enter the x,y values of your loading curve. The SPCD and TABLED1 are joined in a NLOAD1 card (also via load collector). 3) For the non-linear subcase, you need to give the number of load increments and the number of non-linear iterations for each increment in the NLPARM (NLSTAT) or NLPARMX (NLGEOM) card. Again, this card is created via load collector. You need to reference this NLPARM card in your Subcase / Loadstep ImageImageImage
