Hello,
I am getting the following error when running optistruct on a linux computer, where I installed HW recently.
*** FATAL ERROR # 9195 ***
Radflex could not be started.
Check if liblmx-altair shared library is in LD_LIBRARY_PATH or PATH.
License checkout could not be initialized.
The sam input file has been tested on other computers and it works fine.
Any idea what could have gone wrong in the installation?

Re: Differences between analytic and Radioss solutions in modal transient dynamic analysis
Hi,
the equation seems to be for steady state, can you run the same analysis with frequency response, instead of transient response?

Re: More error messages
If you run the model, you will notice that the initial energy jumps to a very high value which means the analysis diverged.
this could be because of the element quality used. Is there a reason for using tetra elements?
have you tried using brick elements with a better element formulation?

Re: More error messages
Hi,
the modelling is also not clear for me.
here I found few: there is not contact defined between component ID 9 and 6 and there are similar issues with other components. (this shows free nodes). is this intended?
and there are some free nodes. please do check them as well.
this will influence the run time. Please do check the model for such modelling issues.

Re: *** ERROR # 1479 ***
The problem is that this CTRIA was meshed as a rigid so no property and material should be applied to it

Hyperworks solver manager + error760
Hi,
I have installed the hyperworks v12 student edition.
When I use the Hyperworks solver I would like to choose the input file.
I know this is possible through the Hyperworks run manager but it only automatically appears when I select Radioss in the analysis menu.
I cannot select the input file in my directory
The thing is I have an error. When I am in my school I can resolve it by changing /LINE by /SURF in the .rad file.
Here, in the analysis menu, Radioss automatically writes the .rad file and runs it, without any possibility to change it
Do you have any idea?
Thanks

Re: Problem in opening .mvw file
Hi Ryanzhao
Firstly try after deleting the settings files, especially hwsettings.xml and other files as listed here
http://www.altairuniversity.com/support-forum/modeling-preprocessing-group9/hypermesh-forum8/how-to-delete-settings-files-thread251/
Please tell me the version you are using and also the system information,
http://www.altairuniversity.com/support-forum/modeling-preprocessing-group9/hypermesh-forum8/how-to-delete-settings-files-thread251/
Click on copy and paste here, please paste all the information you see when you do the above.
You can also send me the mvw file using the dropbox below so I can check the reason for this.

Re: Hyperworks solver manager + error760
Hi aspiman,
It is not possible to use the solver run manager in the HyperWorks Student edition,
You will have to do the preprocessing through HyperMesh to eliminate the error.

viscoelastic material simulation in radioss
Hi everyone, I need an urgent help from all of you. I am doing a viscoelastic material simulation in radioss using kelvin maxwell law. i have the material data in storage modulus vs frequency so i changed my data into g(t) vs t. now when i go for curve fitting the value of prony term gi is coming greater than one.. As i have read in abaqus manual that value of gi should be less than 1 ,, so my question is this theory applied with radioss also or I can use my prony term coefficient which are coming greater than one. Please clear my concepts regarding this or also as per radios can i take the no of prny term more than 5 during curve fitting,, clear my concpts regarding this

Whats the meaning of HyperMesh Connectors?
Hi,
a connector is a geometry information in HyperMesh that sets the location for an assembly between 2 or more parts. E.G. spotweld lists from a CAD system can be read as HyperMesh connector information. The connectors can then be "realized" into different types of connections like beams, rigids, welds etc.
The advantage of connectors is that they can be treated as a list in HyperMesh, manipulated, unrealized and then re-realized into a new sort of connection. The connectors also can be realized to connect two dissimilar meshes.
More literature on connectors can be found in our E-Book "Practical Aspects of Finite Element Analysis" starting from p.151

and on the training website:

Hi Rahul,
I deleted hmsettings.tcl, hmmenu.set, command.cmf, and hwsettings.xml. And try to open the file again. It have the same error message.

Re: *** ERROR # 1479 ***
Unlike from Radioss Block, there is no option to tell the solver that the mesh/component is rigid.
Anyhow, the shell elements will have some thickness, so define a property for that component and create a material card with very high E value. This makes the component rigid in nature.

Re: Problem in opening .mvw file
Hi Ryanzhao,
The tool does not produce the error here for this file,
Can you please zip your entire run folder and send it, i.e. your run1 to run6 folders, including your d3plot and .k files.

Hi mannu,
There is no mention of this condition for the Kelvin Maxwell Law in RADIOSS
Is there a reason specified why this has to be less than 1 elsewhere?
See in help - Altair RADIOSS > Reference Guide > Starter Input > Starter Keywords > /MAT:
