.mvw file not found after linear analysis

Hi, I am currently trying to set u an composite optimisation for a formula SAE seat. After creating my model and runing the analysis (which solve), I cannot open the result in HyperView, I get this error message : 1 Error: File H:/XXXXXX.mvw not found. I opened the .fem file and compared it with a tutorial solution file and every thing seems to be correct. The .mvw is created when I run the analysis. I asked for Cstrain and cstress as global output. Any help would be greatly apreciated. Thank you! Eric

Hi krown, How are you loading the results into HyperView? are you trying to open a session (.mvw) file? At the end of your run you will find a des.h3d file, this will have the design results, Have you tried loading this in the Load model panel of HyperView? Results are loaded using the Load Model panel. To access the Load Model panel, click on the Open Model button on the Standard toolbar or from the File menu select Open > Model. Load Model panel, By default, model and results files are loaded from the same file.

Thanks for your quick response, I normaly just click on "results" in the solver window after completing the analysis or "HyperView" in Hypermesh bottom pannel and it usually works. I tryed opening the .h3d file manually like you said and it works fine, although I receive two error messages : 18 Warning: GLSL program failed to link. Some accelerated features may be disabled. 19 Message: Geometry info ------------- (0) : error C6022: No input primitive type I will just ignore them for now and keep going foward with my optimization. Thank you very much for your help! Eric

FSAE MBD Optimisation needing plots

Sir, During a FSAE car Suspension MBD design, if we want to employ a best possible suspension by varying different link positions, geometry, dimensions, etc. (with our suspension type(Push rod-for front and direct for rear) and track width unaltered) which plots are needed to be reviewed (which after studying `ll lead to guide for optimisation) ? We want max grip for both straight line and cornering events achieved through a our suspension design(pls. suggest if there is anything more if our final goal is to make and perform BEST) As I`m new to suspension design and we are time-bound, please suggest us the ONLY plots needed for our case. We are done with our front and rear half car MBD templates updated as per our CAD models.

Hi, I'm doing a bending test validation using hyperworks 12.0. I've done a model, it work but I think that's a problem during the contact between the cilnders and the specimen. I'm using Block 110 with IMPLICIT CARD. During the iteration there's a message : ... NC= 4200 T= 1.6387E+00 DT= 3.9018E-04 ERR=-99.9% DM/M= 0.0000E+00 ... The ERR doesn't decrise during the iteration...it's a problem? Thanks Bruno

Soumitra, I am not sure if you have read the vehicle dynamics guide (from the same website you downloaded the templates from) that I have written explaining some of the questions you have asked here. I am attaching it with this email. It does describe the plots you need to look at and design trade-offs that you need to make during suspension design. If you are looking to optimize your camber curve the document explains the things you need to do. When you are looking at other curves like the toe, steering and caster you can use similar arguments for your decisions and look at the analogous plots. If you have any (more specific) questions with respect to this analysis please feel free to write to me again. Updating the MBD models as per your CAD is the first step which is not so easy, but the real challenge is with understanding the plots and optimize your design. Best of luck, Mahek

Hi, I want to learn connections with respect to dyna profile but i’m not getting any docs so kindly suggest some links. Thanks, Sriharsha SV

Hi Srivarsha, You should start with the connectors tutorials in HyperMesh, other than changing the type to LS dyna connectors in the respective connectors panels, the rest of the procedure is the same Assembly HM-3400: Creating Connectors HM-3410: Creating Area Connectors HM-3420: Creating Bolt Connectors HM-3430: Part Replacement Through Connectors

Contact Tutorial?

Hi, I am trying to make a simple "tie contact" in my model to connect two meshes with different element size. But i couldn't find any helpful tutorial or example. Is there a tutorial for contact definition in Hypermesh with OptiStruct solver? Best regards Linus

So, am I wrong? Is there no way?

Linus, you can just follow Altair OptiStruct > OptiStruct Tutorials and Examples > Tutorials > Advanced Small Displacement Finite Element Analysis: OS-1365: NLSTAT Analysis of Solid Blocks in Contact - go to step 3 . 10 and instead of interface type as contact, choose Tie. Also see http://www.altairuniversity.com/support-forum/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=531 Also see the HyperWorks student guide page 366

Hi Naidu, I suggest you start with the motion view tutorials in the help documentation and the training center - http://training.altairuniversity.com/analysis/multi-body-dynamics-mbd/ Especially http://training.altairuniversity.com/analysis/multi-body-dynamics-mbd/multi-body-dynamics-intro/ Proceed with your self learning and you can ask specific questions as you proceed

HI, Below I compare with ich 0 isotropic hardening and ich 1 kinematic hardening Image
The isotropic model implies that, if the yield strength in tension and compression are initially the same, i.e. the yield surface is symmetric about the stress axes, they remain equal as the yield surface develops with plastic strain. In order to model the Bauschinger effect, and similar responses, where a hardening in tension will lead to a softening in a subsequent compression, one can use the kinematic hardening rule. This is where the yield surface remains the same shape and size but merely translates in stress space

Matze, currently I see only Isotropic options for time dependance, Your model looks like a relaxation of material when stresses are redistributed and reduced when the system has reached a balanced static case, is that an accurate summation?

Jes, that is bassicly correct. I am interested in the decreasing preload force of the screw. Are you saying it is not possible in Radioss or in Hyperworks? So is it possible with another solver?

Hi Rahul I assumed that there must be an appropriately tutorial, but i couldn't found it. Thanks for your quick response.
