Also the lift coefficients seem a little bit weird. If I can trust the reading they must be higher and negative.
Thanks for te quick reply.

executive files are empty when installing Hw 12
I have an installation problem with Hw 12.0 on windows XP. I followed the download instruction from the Altair's email and download the file"hw12.0.1_win64.exe" (~42Mb). When installing the hyperwork suite, the executive files are empty.I tried a few times. Do you have any idea or instruction for download and installation? HyperMesh is the target software I need to use. Thank you.

Firstly, the hw12.0.1_win64.exe is the installer required for installing multiple packages concurrently, it is not the executable for HW 12.0.
Along with hw12.0.1_win64.exe you will need, HyperWorks Desktop 12.0.110 - win64 (Includes HyperWorks Desktop applications, HyperStudy and HyperMath) and HyperWorks Solvers 12.0.210 - win64 (Includes RADIOSS, MotionSolve, OptiStruct and HyperXtrude) etc as per your requirements.
Download all the necessary files and place them in the same folder, then run hw12.0.1_win64.exe to install the necessary tools concurrently.

Re: Modellierung eines 3-Punkt Biegeversuches
cwaelter,
Firstly,
Note that the degree of freedom referenced on SPCD must also be referenced on a SPC or SPC1 bulk data entry and selected by the SPC subcase information command,
So you need to constrain the DOFs specified in SPCD using SPC as well and put this SPC also in your SPC collector,
Then Reference SPCD card in your nload1 or load, and SPCs in SPC subcase.
See comment 1 in the help document - Altair OptiStruct > Reference Guide > Input Data > Bulk Data Section:
SPCD
The degree-of-freedom (G and C) referenced on this entry must also be referenced on an SPC or SPC1 bulk data entry and selected by the SPC subcase information command in the same subcase.

Re: how to solve the ZERO OR NEGATIVE VOLUME problem when using very soft material?
Thanks. Now I don't have those warnings anymore.
Yes, I am trying to analyze the impact of the ball on the foam material.
I tried this impact in 4 models each with different materials. Now I have combined all of these materials (using type 7 interfaces with csurfs and node sets) and want to run the analysis.
I didn't get any errors. But the solver is taking long time to run. I assume this is comparatively a simple analysis. So I might be doing something wrong. Maybe in the engine file definition. Can you please take a look and give any tips? I am sending the model file by dropbox.
Thanks!

Hi,
I received the file. I will get back to you ASAP! :)

Re: Report problem VWT
The most likely source of problem is that mesh is not connected.
This could be resolved by :
- doing a geometeric boolean and creating one solid part out of the entire assembly and then creating surface mesh for nastran format
- ensuring node to node connectivity for different parts.
Once this surface mesh issue is resolved, it should be fine for VWT.

Re: how to solve the ZERO OR NEGATIVE VOLUME problem when using very soft material?
Hi,
there are 2D scattered elements in your model, please delete and re-configure the master surface and slave nodes.

Re: Report problem VWT
I tried it with one solid part, but the result was the same =(

Re: Report problem VWT
Please upload the hm file with surface mesh on a solid part. I will try to find the cause of error.

nas:http://www.file-upload.net/download-8524683/Platte.nas.html
I placed it witch an 15 degree angle in VWT, To fasten the analysis and reduce the complexity I only take a plate.
I hope i did the surfacemesh on the right way.

Sir i am bit confuse about the terms like bearing,Porthole, weldline.

Re: Report problem VWT
Thanks for the uploading the files. After remeshing the Test.hm with tetra elements, it is working fine.
Please try and inform if it works with tetra elements.

Starting HyperMesh
Greetings.
I have recently downloaded and installed the HyperWorks Student Edition 12.0, mostly to get in touch with HyperMesh.
After starting HyperWorks, I was not able to find a possibility to switch to the HyperMesh application. Also, there is no desktop icon for HyperMesh nor an entry in the Windows start menu.
It is a rather basic question and the solution will most likely be obvious. Nevertheless I need some help with this one.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Modellierung eines 3-Punkt Biegeversuches
To give some more details on your questions:
1a) You do not need a card image fpr SPC and SPCD loadcollectors, except if you want to group / join several loadcols. In this case you need the SPCADD card image, as it is defined in your model
1b) I think this has been answered by Rahul. I saw in your model that you defined additional SPCDs for all degrees of Freedom. I don't think this is necessary, you can delete all SPCDs, except for the one in Z with 10mm displacement.
3) The output animation file will be written, if you enter a non-zero value in the DTA field of the NLPARMX card
4) If the SB entry is not supported in NLGEOM analysis types, you can leave the value blank and ignore the warning message
I saw that the model runs but no contact is found during simulation. We might need to investigate further.

How to refine the mesh size and keep good element quality
↧
Re: How to refine the mesh size and keep good element quality
I would suggest to use e.g. element remesh with the "redo connectivity" option. A number of layers around the refinement zone will help to achieve a better element quality. Please note that the element quality criteria settings in your picture might need to be adapted to the new refined size. Here is a video of the refinement procedure:

There might be more options / functions but this one looks promising.

Re: CBUSH / PBUSH
could you tell me what unit I have to use for the torsional stiffness K4,K5 and K6 in the PBUSH card?
is it in the dimension of Nm/rad or Nm/°
